AMALA & KAMALA, THE TEEN WOLVES

Basically, a newborn child will be cared for and raised by his parents. Newborn children when growing up will learn to socialize with the surrounding environment.

But unlike other children, there are some children who live and grow up away from human contact from a very young age.

They don't even have the experience of how to be human, whether it's how to take care of themselves, social behavior, love, or language.

Usually, they are called 'wild children'.

Well, even though it sounds like a fairy tale, it really happened. One of them is the story of Amala and Kamala, the most famous. The two girls in India were raised by a female wolf.

As the story goes, in 1920, Pastor J.A.L. Singh saw a mother wolf and her cubs. Two of them had long matted hair and looked like humans.

After considerable preparation and difficulty, the two girls were finally captured.

They turned out to be two girls whose ages Singh rated at around eight and one and a half.

They were then taken to an orphanage in Mindapore, India, where the pastor and his wife live.

Singh described them as 'wolfish' or wolf-like, be it appearance or demeanor.

They crawl, love raw meat, and steal it when the opportunity arises.

They lick all the liquid with their tongues and eat food in a crouched position.

Their tongues permanently hang over their thick red lips. Also, their behavior was panting like a wolf.

They never sleep after midnight and roam and howl at night.

They move very fast like squirrels and it is very difficult to catch up with them.

They avoid society and if approached will grin baring teeth.

It is known that their hearing is also very strong and can smell meat from a great distance.

Not only that, but while they can't see well during the day, they can adjust well at night.

In September 1921, both girls fell ill, and Amala, the younger one, died.

Mrs. Singh then took care of Kamala as best she could and made her learn to be human.

After five years in the orphanage, Kamala began to show intellectual function.

She knows some of the names of the babies kept in the orphanage, understands the concept of color, accepts food only from her plate, and recognizes her own glass.

Kamala also learned a lot about the language of speech.

Then in 1928 came an invitation from the Psychological Society of New York who wanted to expose Kamala to the public.

However Kamala became weak because of it, her health declined throughout the year, and then died in November 1929.
